An elderly dormitory manager at Qingdao University died of heatstroke. The manager was found unconscious in the duty room of Yingyuan Building 10 under high-temperature conditions and passed away after failing to respond to emergency treatment at the hospital. The duty room was small and poorly ventilated, with no air conditioning or other cooling equipment. Recently, Qingdao has experienced extreme high temperatures (Shandong issued 71 consecutive high-temperature warnings), which was cited as a direct cause.
Several students reported that the university had delayed his salary for 8-10 months. Due to his meager income, the elderly manager often cooked dried noodles to fill his stomach and could not afford cafeteria meals. When a kitten fell ill, he was also unable to take it to the vet due to lack of money.
The elderly manager adopted several stray cats and bought cat food at his own expense, even giving all three of his only fans to the cats.
