Many desks in this classroom are always like this. If you have the option, you can pick a desk with a finished edge. If that’s really not possible, you can sit a bit further forward and place your entire arms on the desktop.
I’ve also been bothered by this quite a few times over the past year.

The tables, chairs, and cabinets in the South Building are too impractical. If the cabinet has three layers, my backpack won’t fit; if it has two layers, there’s not enough space for books.
Putting my backpack on the chair makes my back incredibly sore, and space is already limited.
Hanging it on the back of the chair, people behind me like to stretch their feet over, and my white backpack has already turned black.
Putting it on the side isn’t allowed in the first place, and there are no hooks, and throwing it on the floor just gets it dirty.
So what am I supposed to do?

Discuss with your deskmate about placing it in the middle, or put it by your feet (on the side closer to your deskmate but without affecting their space).
